1. Philodedron

Philodedron is among the most popular decorative houseplants in Croatia, but also in the world. However, it should be noted that its large leaves are not edible and that biting them in pets can cause irritation of the oral cavity and tongue, but also problems with swallowing, excessive salivation and vomiting.

2. Aloe Vera

Although this plant with thick fleshy leaves and medicinal juice has miraculous powers when it comes to the health and care of human skin, it can create many problems for pets – from vomiting, diarrhea and shivering to depression in cats and dogs.

3. Golden Creeper

Golden Creeper, also known as Ernodea Littoralis or the Beech Creeper is a very attractive climbing plant, dangerous to the lives of cats and dogs because it contains needles-shaped crystals that defend against predators from nature. Digestion of these crystals can cause irritation of the mouth and tongue, problems with swallowing saliva and vomiting.

4. Dracaena

Dracaena is another popular houseplant, but it can cause big problems for pets. Negative consequences include excessive salivation, vomiting, anorexia, and depression.

5. Cycas Palm

The cycas or sage palm is an ornament of many gardens in the Mediterranean, but this plant with a crown of leathery leaves resembling a canopy can cause serious problems for your dog or cat. Biting this dangerous plant can cause vomiting, stomach bleeding, blood problems, liver failure, but also a fatal outcome, so it should be kept away from pets.

6. Dieffenbachia

Your pet will not have time to chew a lot of the leaves of this plant before it starts to feel changes in the body. Symptoms include a feeling of intense burning and irritation in the mouth and on the lips, excessive salivation, vomiting and swallowing problems. You should definitely keep it away from pets, but also wash your hands yourself after touching it.

7. Lilies

Long-flowered lilies and oriental lily hybrids growing from the bulb can cause kidney failure in cats, but not dogs. In fact, lily pollen can be life-threatening for cats. If you can’t do without this ornamental plant, avoid problems by tearing off or pruning the pistil when the flower opens to avoid problems with your pet.
